This session will explore the biography of Rosalía de Castro and her life´s work from three perspectives: the theory of emotions, gender studies, and Gothic literature in the Iberian Peninsula. Panelists will discuss literary parallels between Castro and other Hispanic, Anglo, and Slavic women writers. The focus will be on the ways these authors used romantic literary convention to display different types of violence that prevailed in relationships between the sexes.
